FEMALE. team, and highlights ten fiercely gritty women who are breaking stereotypes in their everyday lives as single or married moms, in their occupations and hobbies. Don’t underestimate a few Mamas with their smartphones and editing apps. We got creative and had some fun shooting this thing.😉😏 We took an abstract interpretation of the song to create the video concept highlighting the good stuff that I want my daughter, and your daughters, to see and know is real life. They can truly choose ANY path they decide they are passionate about and watching these women do just that tells them over and over again— it’s ok to just be you… and so what if they call us crazy. 😜💪🏼 You’ve seen many of these women in my social media series already (and lots more to come in the next few weeks!) and I am So. Thrilled. to feature them in the music video. Thank you ladies for your time and inspiration and thank you to everyone that helped make this happen! 🌷💣 Susie McDaniel Judy McDaniel Sia Cooper Jamie King Ami Walker Dawn Tafoya Kyle Petite Sarah James Andrea Gainey AJ Schoenberger Brittany Brown Tracey Nelson HEATHER STEWART CRISTIN AXSOM JENNIFER OLIVER MICAH KEARNEY ANNABELLE KEARNEY CHRIS DAVIS CITY OF FLORALA BULLETS AND BONES ALPHA FEMALE TACTICAL LOUIS LOUIS ADAMS SANITATION MICHAEL SCROGGINS-GOOD TIMES R SPEEDWAY THE CRAFTY BEAN We shot the whole video series and music video for Was it You, Was it Me with #iphone13promax phones. 😮Yep, it's true. To some it may be obvious because hello we aren't professional videographers or producers, but others might just capture that energy we were shooting for. ☺️We are just a few Mamas on a mission to learn how to create the vision we had in our heads. So by watching some lesson videos, changing a few settings on our phones, using gimbals (DJI OM5), and a couple of editing apps we created a special mark in time we love…and we may or may not be addicted to it at this point. 😜🤓 #caseykearneymusic #wasityouwasitme #strongwomen #embraceyou #fiercewomen #caseykearney #countrymusic #womenincountry #indiemusic #smartphonevideo #iphone13promax #iphone #apple #dji #djiom5 #gimbal

We had fertility issues early on, but eventually we had 3 beautiful babies. Staying home with them was what I always wanted, but reality looked a little different than that. My creative mind felt restless. I had a long list of other dreams I wanted to pursue along with raising them. At the time I didn’t even know I could sing or play any instruments. A music career was not on my radar. Between nap times and laundry loads I learned guitar chords, studied songwriting, and talked to everyone I could to learn how to do this thing. I am no different than anyone else out there loving life and yet restless where you are, knowing there is no where else you’d rather be, but there are goals you’d love to chase also. You can do both. It’s harder and definitely takes strategy, planning, community and the willpower to stay focused - but it is possible. Always remembering whats the point in reaching the top if the ones that love you most aren't there to share the journey. The journey is the good part! “What Matters Today” is a glimpse into my very personal heart and mind, that I know many of you will understand and relate to in your own way. Thanks for sharing this journey with me the past few years. THANK YOU for listening, sharing, coming to shows, and your constant encouragement. I feel so blessed. 💕 #caseykearney #caseykearneymusic #independentmusic #independentartist #whatmatterstoday #singersongwriter #momandmusician #newrelease #newsong #countrymusic I could not have made this happen without some special friends…. My friend and producer in Nashville, Doug Kahan, who turned my vision into a beautiful song. Chris Davis (the one with experience) and Cristin Axsom (the creative one ready for an experiment.) The rest of the crew that had helped and brainstormed for the shoot ended up sick or family sick and couldn’t make it, but Chris and Cristin made it happen…it was a lot for 2 people but they were perfect for the job. 🙌🏼💕 We filmed at the Saenger Theater in downtown Pensacola, FL. The crew there was super helpful. Gene Cox and Gary Gregor let us borrow their fog machine. Heather Stewart has dissected edits with me no less than 500 times most of the time in the middle of the night. 😵‍💫😜 I wrote this song because I was all up in my feelings one day. I played the unfinished version that night at a show and teared up along with everyone else in the room. The others there that night understood the feeling. It’s my story, but it’s theirs too. It’s totally a sweet, sappy personal song that I don’t usually like to write. It still gets me emo sometimes…but I love that people relate. I love that there is a common thread in all of us that must choose to balance the things that really truly matter. That job can replace us tomorrow, but we never get this time back with our kids. No regrets. …and in the making of this video my husband and the kids have been super sweet, patient and supportive. They are the inspiration and they are the reason. They are what matters to me everyday …. And there I go being all sweet again. What is going on with me?! 🤪😭😑😆

Casey Kearney - Waffle House (Official Music Video)

Website: www.caseykearney.com Facebook and Instagram: @caseykearneymusic More Music: Apple Music: https://apple.co/3sj7uAo Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/3fta8vU625sxcJ1CqJHlUl?si=8Ogu-2LSTHC68-0uBczqBw Back Story of "Waffle House"... My sweet friends Rob and Kelli told me their story in conversation when I met them a couple of years ago. They said they’ve been married 30+ years, they slow danced in a Waffle House on New Years Eve after they got married. We laughed. It stuck with me. I thought it was the sweetest little love story. I added a few details to it and wrote the song sitting in my friend Marcie’s condo on 30A. I honestly thought it was just a cute funny song for my friends. However, when I started performing it everyone else started sharing their own Waffle House stories! I had no idea it could be such a romantic place full of first dates, proposals, and wedding receptions. 😂 This turned into people saying “for us it wasn’t Waffle House it was IHOP, Hardee’s, Huddle House etc etc etc.” Basically a bunch of long lasting relationships did not start out fancy! I guess love likes waffles. When we decided to do a video for Waffle House me, Rob and Kelli talked about several different ideas. The main thing we wanted was to show the abstract progression of the relationship. Young love, middle of life, and older in life. This wasn’t super hard to cast for these parts because Kelli, her daughter Jessie, and her mom Lois are all so beautiful and look alike. Rob, Andrew, and Ardie each played their respective age groups and they all did such a great job. Deciding on a director for the Waffle House music video was tough until I met Keno Manuel. Y’all this guy has so much life and energy. He was so creative and professional with his ideas and presentation. His story boards presenting color palettes, thematic elements, and so many other ideas were so impressive especially as young as he is. Rob, Kelli and I knew right away we loved him and wanted him to do the job! When it came to filming day his crew was fantastic, they were young and smart. It was a super long day, but they worked so hard and were so professional. They’ll definitely go far in life. A music video project doesn’t just happen. This one took a few special people to make it come to life...My friend Lisa Overly let us invade the inside and outside of her house for hours to film tiny flashes of home life. We had to move her cute Christmas decor and rearrange a bit, but she was so sweet and accommodating to the whole crew. Her poor kids just wanted some lunch, but waited patiently for us to get out of the way! 😂🏡 My friend Gloria Fortner brought her perfectly muddy Jeep all day long for a few shots. It was a funny little adventure when Andrew (who played young Rob) was learning to drive a standard...he wasn’t the only one... Basically the only ones who knew how to drive one were over the age of 30! 😂 He learned that day though, picked it up quick! Skylar Capri was the best cheerleader, make up and hair touch ups, lunch girl, runner, and set crew. You can’t be around this girl and not have fun. She’s so great. She even took Annabelle in her Benz convertible to and from gymnastics while we were still filming. Annabelle was feeling fancy for sure. 🤩 Kelli and Rob played themselves and were naturals at it. Andrew came home from Auburn University to play “young Rob.” Their daughter Jessi came from ATL to play “young Kelli.” Kelli’s mom Lois and her husband Artie played the oldest couple. It was a long, long day for them but they hung out with smiles on their faces. Some of their shots were my fave of the whole video! We filmed in my hometown of Crestview, FL. The venues were so nice to let the cast and crew invade their spaces. We shot in the courtyard behind Casbah Coffee, the Waffle House on 90, Twin Hills Park and Lisa’s house. It was a long day full of ups and downs, but so much fun and the finished product was worth it.

My show that night was moved indoors because it was miserable outside. The red tide is an algae that blooms and takes the oxygen out of the water and kills the fish. It can make humans coughh and your nose and eyes run. It’s disgusting! That night there was an incredible sunset - but it was miserable out there. I thought to myself man that sky lies. Hello song idea! A relationship parallel to a beautiful thing you want sooo bad that is actually really toxic, ugly and gross. When I played it at my next outdoor show that week I was fittingly coughing through it! I pictured the video with a piano on the beach going up in flames kind of like all of your hopes and dreams for that relationship. We made it happen and I’m SO excited for you to finally see the video. The timing is crazy because the red tide is currently in bloom again at the time of this video release. Thank you so much to my kids and Scott who helped with the huge piano task. Scott, Rob, Fletcher and Steve for helping move it to and from the water.
